Jackets FAQ

How do you measure your suit jacket size?
To find your best fit in our jackets, blazers and outerwear, we recommend starting with four key measurements: shoulders, bust, waist, and hip. Use a soft tape measure and refer to the above chart for US sizing. For the most accurate results:

Shoulders: Measure straight across the back, from shoulder blade to shoulder blade.

Bust: Wrap the tape around the fullest part of your chest.

Waist: Measure at the narrowest point of your torso.

Hip: Measure around the fullest part of your hips (typically about 8"" below the waist).

Each jacket, blazer or coat is designed with these measurements in mind, and the size guide above will help you match your body to the most comfortable fit - whether you're choosing a tailored XS or a roomier size L.

As always, if you need help picking the right size or aren’t sure how one of our styles fits, feel free to email us at customerservice@veronicabeard.com with the jacket name, color, and your usual size in other brands. We’ll be happy to guide you toward your perfect fit.

What coat size am I?
Similarly to measuring your suit jacket size, your coat size is based on four key measurements: shoulders, bust, waist, and hips. To find your best fit, we recommend using the size guide above alongside a soft measuring tape to measure your shoulder, bust, waist and hips.

Once you have your measurements, use the chart to locate the US size that most closely aligns, starting at 00 (XS) and ranging up to 24 (3XL). If you're between sizes or planning to layer, you may want to size up for extra comfort.

And if you're ever unsure, we’re here to help. Just email us at customerservice@veronicabeard.com with the coat name, color, and your typical size in other brands - we’ll happily guide you to the best fit.

How should a jacket fit a woman?
A jacket should strike the perfect balance between comfort and structure - it should sit cleanly at the shoulders, close at the bust without pulling, and contour at the waist without feeling restrictive. Sleeve length should hit just past the wrist for a refined, polished finish.

While our jackets are cut with consistency for each size across every style, differences in fabric or construction can affect how a jacket fits overall. For example, our Scuba Dickey Jacket, crafted from our signature stretch-scuba fabric, may fit differently than a tweed or wool jacket in the same size. Likewise, jackets or blazers with more pronounced shoulder pads may feel different than those with minimal or no padding, even in the same size.

If you’d like detailed measurements for a specific style, we’re happy to help. Just email us at customerservice@veronicabeard.com with the jacket name and size, and we’ll guide you to your ideal fit.

Should you size up when buying a coat?
In many cases, your usual size will offer the right fit - our coats are designed to accommodate light layering underneath. That said, if you plan to wear heavier sweaters or multiple layers, you may want to size up for added comfort and mobility.

Keep in mind that fabric and construction can affect the overall feel of the fit. For example, a structured wool coat may feel more fitted than a stretch-fabric style in the same size. If you're between sizes or unsure which size will work best for your layering needs, we're here to help.
